"Owls of Illinois" presentation & discussion
Dakota Radford will share a brief introduction to the owl species found in Illinois, including their appearance, likely locations, and calls. All members are encouraged to contribute their knowledge, comments, and questions. We will also discuss the option of adopting a route for the annual MOON survey hosted by the Illinois Natural History Survey. MOON - (Monitoring of Owls and Nightjars in Illinois) routes are monitored once or twice a year, in the months of May-July. A route along Lake Shelbyville appears in need of a monitor. We will discuss the details of this program and whether the club would want to take this project on as an annual commitment. If you want to learn more about MOON now, visit their the INHS website: http://wwx.inhs.illinois.edu/research/moon/ |
