Sassafras is a beautiful understory tree during all seasons, but is most admired in the spring months because of the vibrant yellow flowers that are produced in the early spring.

  • Birds, such as mockingbirds, sapsuckers, pileated woodpeckers, yellowthroat warblers and phoebes eat the fruits

  • White-tailed deer feed on the twigs and foliage
