Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow

The Douglas-Hart Foundation is partnering with professionals in our community to host five professional development courses for our local Middle School and High School students (aside from the training that comes with our summer volunteer internships). These are the first in our Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow series.
Dinner is provided between 5-5:30 pm, and the session will start immediately after. The sessions are free to all students. However, an RSVP is required.
This year's topics include:
  • Basic First Aid
  • Special Needs Engagement
  • Classroom Management
  • Mental Health/Bullying
  • LGBTQ+ Inclusivity

Masks are optional to attend these sessions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. You can learn more about our community partners and sign up below. We hope to see you there!

Basic First Aid
January 18, 5-7 pm
Nick Polston

In this session, students will learn basic first aid. This course will not provide CPR certification. However, participants will learn how to care for basic injuries they may experience personally with those around them. Nick was previously the Volunteer Coordinator for The Douglas-Hart Foundation and is now working at Sarah Bush Lincoln.

Special Needs Engagement
February 15, 5-7pm
Chastity- CCAR Industries

Many people struggle to interact with those who have physical/mental disabilities. We are hoping this course will help all of us connect stronger to one-another, rather in the classroom or in public.

Mental Health and bullying

Elliott Counseling

These past two years have been draining on everyone. Join us as we address ways to take care of ourselves, assist others around us without giving too much of ourselves away, and what to do if we witness or suspect bullying or abuse.

LGBTQ+ Inclusivity
May 17, 5-7pm
Jaz- Uniting Pride

We want all to feel welcome in our community, and especially on our properties. This session will help us to better understand how to show our LGBTQ+ community kindness and respect as well as create an inclusive environment for all to feel safe in.
