Bald Cypress is a gorgeous tree all year round, but was chosen for fall interest because it is one of the few conifers that drop its needles in the fall and has stunning color.

Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum)
Why can't Bald Cypress trees sew?
They are always dropping their needles!
Did you know?
  • The wood is resistant to shrinkage, termites, and rotting
  • The "Bald" part of the name refers to how the tree drops its needles in the fall--it is only 1 of 5 conifer species that does so
  • Bald Cypress trees can produce "knees"--structure forming above the roots that can form a new tree (in wet areas)
