NATURE IN THE ARTS


Nature in the Arts is a Nature Center program that incorporates nature with a diversity of art disciplines. All programs will be hosted at the Nature Center.

July - Nature Photography

To Be Scheduled

Techniques for successful photography will be discussed, followed by time on the nature center trails to use your new skills.  Please bring your own camera.  This program is recommended for adults.  Registration is required.

September - Natural Soaps

To Be Scheduled

Create decorative soaps using natural herbs and exfoliants.  There will be a wide assortment of molds, herbs, fragrances, and colors to give your soap a personal touch.  Recommended for ages 7 and up with adult chaperone.  Registrations is required.  Members $3, Non-members $5.

October - Nature Center Fall Family Festival

Saturday, October 11, Noon - 4:00p.m.

Join us for this annual Nature Center family event featuring entertainment, fall activities, food, and fun for the whole family.  Sponsored by First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust and the Douglas-Hart Nature Center.  FREE

November - Pinecone Wreaths

To Be Scheduled

Join us for this popular two-session Nature Center workshop and fashion a lovely pinecone wreath.  Registration is required.  Members $5, Non-Members $8.

December - Nature Ornaments

To Be Scheduled

Get into the holiday spirit and create decorations for your home and tree using natural materials.  All materials will be provided.  Recommended for ages 5 and up with adult chaperone.  Registration is required.  Members $1, Non-members $2.

Children, ages 5-9, will have the opportunity to participate in these fun, educational sessions!  We will play games, make crafts, and explore the nature center trails.  Registration is appreciated, please call to register.  FREE

Summer Nature Study and Youth Volunteer Program

The Douglas-Hart Nature Center will once again off  Summer Nature Study classes for children ages 2-14 yrs and our Youth Volunteer Program for children ages 13 - 18yrs.  These opportunities are a fun and educational way for your child to spend summer days.  

** Registration for Summer Nature Study classes is closed - all sessions are full.  Registration for Youth Volunteers continues until June 9th.  Youth Volunteer applications can be picked up at the nature center.

 

GIRL SCOUT PROGRAMS

Please contact the Douglas-Hart Nature Center to register your troop for these programs - Registration is required.  The cost is $2/scout and does not include the badge.  If you would like to schedule a program other than those listed below, please contact the Nature Center.

 

      

FAMILY PROGRAMS

Summer Night Hike

Saturday, June 21, 7:30p.m. - 9:00p.m.

Get your family in touch with their nocturnal side as we enjoy a campfire and explore the nature center after dark on the first night of summer.  Recommended for ages 5 and up with adult chaperone.  Registration is required. FREE

Buck Moon Night Hike

Saturday, July 19, 7:30p.m. - 9:00p.m.

We'll enjoy a campfire and then hike the nature center's trails by the light of the full moon.  Recommended for ages 5 and up with adult chaperone.  Registration is required. FREE
