About the Douglas-Hart Nature Center

The Nature Center
The Visitor Center is open seven days a week, year round. It features interpretive exhibits, sensory displays, and live critters to be enjoyed by individuals of all ages. A bird observation area allows you to enjoy birds and other critters close up. |
| The Discovery Den is a popular place just for kids! Children are invited to explore, play, and have a good time with our bat cave, puppet show area, x-ray machine, camping area, and toys. |
Our nature library provides a cozy atmosphere for reading books, persuing field guides, watching videos, or viewing birds and other critters all while relaxing next to a cozy fireplace. |
| The Badger Burrow, a nature gift area, offers hard to find nature items, books, videos, puppets, items from recycled materials, and clothing bearing the nature center logo. |
| The classrooms are available for rental, contact the nature center for more information, 217-235-4644. |
| A picnic area is available for visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. No ground fires or grills permitted. |
